Surviving LED ZEPPELIN Members Gather At London Premiere Of DVD
May 17, 2003The surviving members of LED ZEPPELIN made an extremely rare appearance onstage at the exclusive premiere of the band's long-awaited live DVD held in Leicester Square, London Thursday night (May 15),according to dotmusic.
The audience of friends and family, competition winners and media were gathered to see a specially cut two-hour version of the five-hour DVD with performances from the Royal Albert Hall (1970),Madison Square Gardens (1973),Earls Court (1975) and Knebworth (1979).
Although there was a strong round of applause by the audience at the end of every track, it was late drummer John Bonham's jaw-dropping solo rendition of the infamous "Moby Dick" from 1970 that reportedly proved to be the night's most ecstatically greeted song.
An identical red carpet screening is planned in the U.S. on May 27 at Manhattan's Loews 34th Street Theatre.
The two-disc DVD and the three-CD "How The West Was Won" album are both scheduled for release on May 27.
Released by Atlantic Records, the DVD and CD sets mark the first-ever official release of these historic and extraordinary LED ZEPPELIN performances, which span the band's entire career. Long-rumored and eagerly anticipated, the sets each contain entirely different material, with no overlap between the two releases. With over 200 million albums sold worldwide, LED ZEPPELIN is the biggest-selling rock group in history.
